Teaching Consultation Program
POD encourages and supports improvement in teaching
and learning as part of life-long learning in a learner centered
environment.
The Teaching Consultation Program (TCP) is voluntary, confidential,
structured yet flexible, behaviorally focused, based upon data
collected from several sources, and independent of performance
review.
Faculty members work with trained, on-campus consultants to assist
the faculty member in recognizing and developing instructional
behaviors most appropriate for themselves and their students.
The consultant meets with the faculty member to explain the specifics
of TCP, and, if both agree, then a semester-long process begins.
- The selection of a class that the faculty member is teaching
- The administering of a student questionnaire about instructional
goals and teaching behaviors
- A classroom observation and videotaping
- A questionnaire-guided, structured interview with the participating
faculty member
- The development of strategies and the sharing of resources
- A follow-up student questionnaire
