POD Committee Structure
West Kentucky Community & Technical
College
Mission Statement: West Kentucky Community
& Technical College is committed to a comprehensive professional
development program to provide a range of opportunities for
all faculty, management, and staff to progress and to improve
and thus to create a positive teaching and learning environment.
The College and the individual share in the responsibility for
effective professional development.
College POD Committee
Mission Statement:
To be added.
- Membership: Appointed by President in conjunction
with POD Coordinator, CLO, & Assistant Dean/Supervisor.
One faculty member (master teacher) from each of the seven
divisions; one non-teaching faculty; technology trainer; three
staff (master skilled); HR Director; PJC Foundation. Faculty
and staff will be on a three year rotation beginning 2006-2007.
- Chair: Coordinator, Professional & Organizational
Development
- Oversight:
- Premier Travel Proposals (Rosenthal, Peel, & TI)
- Tuition Applications (Out-of-state/private in-state)
- Chair of division/unit committees that receive, review,
and recommend POD travel applications from that division/unit
- Responsible for working with Assistant Deans and/or
Supervisors in providing professional development opportunities
for the specific division/unit.
- Serving as the liaison between the division/unit and
the college.
- Meetings: Regular would be twice per semester to
review and recommend Premier Travel and Tuition funding. Additional
meetings as needed.
Strategic Professional
Development Team
Mission Statement:
The mission of the Strategic Professional Development Team is
to offer coordinated and comprehensive opportunities for individual
(college-wide) development to support the college's pursuit
of a culture of excellence.
- Membership: HR Director, Cultural Diversity Director,
Title III Coordinator, IE Coordinator, QEP Coordinator, Technology
Coordinator, Director of External Education, POD Coordinator,
Staff Subcommittee Chair, Open Position (Title III emphasis)
- Chair: POD Coordinator
- Oversight:
- College-wide programming on focused topics.
- Academic calendar of professional development opportunities.
- Marketing itself and the calendar.
- Programming budget.
- Meetings: Monthly after establishing itself.
